Forgive and Give

Luke 6:37-38  Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven; give, and it will be given to you.  Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap.  For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.

We often hear “Judge not” from people who feel condemned.  It’s one of the few quotes they have heard from the bible that they remember… but, most of the time it is taken out of context.  The main jest, is that the person quoting it is saying that we have no right to judge whatever it is they may be doing (that we consider wrong.)  God does tell us to judge people by their fruits, but that’s a subject for another time…. Notice though, the scripture does not end with “judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not and you will not be condemned”… it goes on to say “forgive, and you will be forgiven~ give, and it will be given to you!”  We should not take half of a scripture and use it to the advantage of what we want, and not apply the rest of it as well.  If you are feeling condemned about something and telling people they shouldn’t be judging you… choose to forgive them, and give to them, and work things out with them peaceably..and goodness will come back to you.
Judge not, condemn not, forgive and give….

Gateway Worship - O The Blood

O the blood
Crimson love
Price of life's demand
Shameful sin
Placed on Him
The Hope of every man

O the blood of Jesus washes me
O the blood of Jesus shed for me
What a sacrifice that saved my life
Yes, the blood, it is my victory

Savior Son
Holy One
Slain so I can live
See the Lamb
The great I Am
Who takes away my sin

O the blood of the Lamb
O the blood of the Lamb
O the blood of the Lamb
The precious blood of the Lamb
What a sacrifice
That saved my life
Yes, the blood, it is my victory

O what love
No greater love
Grace, how can it be
That in my sin
Yes, even then
He shed His blood for me

Christians need to be reminded and exhorted continually to keep their focus on Jesus.  It is very easy to become side-tracked into other things. We can get caught up in being passionate for a lot of good things in life, but the questions today are: “Are You Passionate for Jesus? Is Jesus holding the ‘center stage’ of your heart and life? Is He the One Who comes first? Is He a delight or a duty day by day?” It is important that we are challenged with such questions, so we can continually keep a check on our priorities. No one else can set our priorities for us. Our priorities will demonstrate where our passion is. It is quite amazing how we can usually find time for the things we want to do. For the Christian who is passionate for Jesus Christ he/she will always find the time to commit to that which He has asked of us.
In a day when many religions are being driven by a false passion, it is important that we  rise to higher heights in our representation of Jesus Christ in our communities. If we are unable to convey the passion, privilege and excitement of being in love with the risen Jesus, then who else can? If we are unable to let others see and know that He is the Answer to life’s problems, then who else is able to communicate that? People are seeking for answers today, but generally are seeking in the wrong places. All around the world people and cultures are degenerating back into lawlessness and wickedness ~ in spite of its religiosity, and in spite of governments making more rules and regulations to try and control people. Religion does not answer the cry, and governments cannot, because the answers needed are first and foremost spiritual. Even active involvement in Christian things does not necessarily answer that cry ~ unless Jesus is the focus, and His love and life are shining through those activities. Our hearts have to be motivated by a strong passion for Jesus. He is the Answer ~ not activities and things!

When we are passionate about someone, we want to be spending all the time we can with him/her. We just love to be in their presence. It is no different with Jesus. When we are in love with Him and are passionate for His presence and Word, we will find ways to get close enough to please Him. He is waiting for us to get close enough to Him so He can speak to us, and reveal more of His wonderful Word and will to us. We will never ever regret spending time with Jesus! When He speaks to us, it is always for our good! But if we are not passionate about our walk with Him, then we are going to struggle in hearing His voice and knowing His will for our lives.

Be encouraged to make those decisions that will draw you nearer to Jesus, with a passion that enables you to be a true witness of Him wherever you go. Remember, we are called to walk with Him more than the doing of those things that merely represent Him. Be passionate for JESUS CHRIST!

Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You right now, and I ask that You will put Your finger on anything and everything in my life that is robbing me of a real passion for You. Forgive me, Lord, for too often being far too passive and indifferent in my relationship and walk with You. I want to be a ‘fired-up,’ passionate follower of Jesus Christ, so the world will see and know that I belong to You, and that You are the Answer to every person’s need. Help me to be a greater witness of Your resurrection love and power. This I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

Presidental Election - It's a Sad Day~

Mr. Obama is back in office for another 4 years.. and it's a sad day indeed.  One thing this election has brought forth is my devoted prayer that our president will become saved by the blood of Jesus Christ during this term and change his morals and his ways.

I believe that under Obama our world will change drasticly before our eyes - and not for the better.  Things will get worse.  This is what the World of God tells us.. during the last days things will slope down hill and roll faster and faster toward distruction.  Obama may just be the man to keep that ball rolling.

Nonetheless, I am praying that God, the maker of all there is and ever will be, will change his life... and then that the world will change.

Teach us to pray Lord.. teach us to pray earnestly!

Forgiveness and Gratitude

Luke 7:36-50  One of the Pharisees invited Jesus to eat with him. After he entered the Pharisee’s home, he took his place at the table. 37 Meanwhile, a woman from the city, a sinner, discovered that Jesus was dining in the Pharisee’s house. She brought perfumed oil in a vase made of alabaster. 38 Standing behind him at his feet and crying, she began to wet his feet with her tears. She wiped them with her hair, kissed them, and poured the oil on them. 39 When the Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw what was happening, he said to himself, If this man were a prophet, he would know what kind of woman is touching him. He would know that she is a sinner.
40 Jesus replied, “Simon, I have something to say to you.”
“Teacher, speak,” he said.
41 “A certain lender had two debtors. One owed enough money to pay five hundred people for a day’s work. The other owed enough money for fifty42  When they couldn’t pay, the lender forgave the debts of them both. Which of them will love him more?”
43 Simon replied, “I suppose the one who had the largest debt canceled.”
Jesus said, “You have judged correctly.”
44 Jesus turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? When I entered your home, you didn’t give me water for my feet, but she wet my feet with tears and wiped them with her hair. 45  You didn’t greet me with a kiss, but she hasn’t stopped kissing my feet since I came in. 46  You didn’t anoint my head with oil, but she has poured perfumed oil on my feet. 47  This is why I tell you that her many sins have been forgiven; so she has shown great love. The one who is forgiven little loves little.”
48 Then Jesus said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The other table guests began to say among themselves, “Who is this person that even forgives sins?”
50 Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you. Go in peace.”

Thank you Lord, that it just takes confession on our part... and mercy and love on yours.  Forgiveness with no strings attached.  Lord, you are so good.

Outside My Window

Outside my window.... It's starting to get dark and to cool down.  I love these cool fall nights when I can snuggle up with a book and blanket!

I am thinking... about how God works all things together for our good. It amazes me sometimes how He sees the big picture and orchestrates everything.

I am thankful for... For this time of year.  People's happy faces, holidays coming, baking, friendships and celebration!

From the kitchen... Today I made 11 jars of plumpkin jelly - A mixture of plum and pumpkin~ and it's sooo good!

I am wearing... An OU tee-shirt ( I can go OU or OSU!), jeans and socks.

I am creating... A handy dandy cleaning list to get the house ready for Thanksgiving guests!

I am going... to start my Christmas shopping tomorrow!

I am reading... While We Are Far Apart

I am hoping... that my oldest son is doing well helping to clean up after hurricane Sandy in New York City.

I am hearing... The TV playing a Hallmark Christmas movie.

Around the house... Things are clean and tidy. For the moment anyway~!

One of my favorite things... is to go out to eat breakfast. I just love a big breakfast bar full of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, biscuits and gravy etc...

A few plans for the rest of the week... Church, Christmas shopping, work, ladies night out and ladies day out.

Is trying to remember... that God allows mountain tops and valley's.. and He also allows ski-lifts!

We long for love and relationship and healing and hope. We long for holiness, for a closer walk with Jesus, for God’s truth to speak louder than the noise of the world. When we long for the right things, we find a different sort of love. The kind of love that will never let go of us, never let us down. Never walk away or disown us. A love that know us and our flaws, but stays anyways. For us to long for God is to long for a perfect love. God’s word promises if we start longing for that perfect love, everything…absolutely everything will follow that longing. God created our ability to long for love. But He wants us to long for His perfect love.

Beautiful People

I have seen beauty that makes your eyes blink and your heart stagger... yet beauty, true beauty comes from deep within the hearts and souls of who we are.  Most often true beauty is there inside of someone because of a struggle or a hardship that has been overcome.  Many of my most special friends are a beautiful mess.  Aren't we all?

I Love a Rainy Night

It is pouring outside right now.  Coming down in sheets.. a lot of rumbling thunder and lightening.  I love rainy nights!  Perfect for popcorn and a movie, cuddling, reading, sleeping.. or just staring out into the black sky awaiting a sudden flash of white.  There's something about feeling so safe at home.  A safe and sound abode.

God is so awesome and good.

Job 28:26  He decided how much rain would fall, and the path for the lightning.

A Fall Song

Golden and red trees
Nod to the soft breeze,
As it whispers, "Winter is near;"
And the brown nuts fall
At the wind's loud call,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Good-by, sweet flowers!
Through bright Summer hours
You have filled our hearts with cheer
We shall miss you so,
And yet you must go,
For this is the Fall of the year.
Now the days grow cold,
As the year grows old,
And the meadows are brown and sere;
Brave robin redbreast
Has gone from his nest,
For this is the Fall of the year.
I do softly pray
At the close of day,
That the little children, so dear,
May as purely grow
As the fleecy snow
That follows the Fall of the year.

She invited me to come and visit. The whole time I was there she avoided me.  She would be sitting in corners crying or upset and there would be someone comforting her.  This happened many times... each time a different place with a woman hugging or talking to her. We were in a crowd of circus people and several people were leading horses by us and one was very tall.  I asked the lady if he was at least 17 hands and the man next to her tried to convince me that he was only 15, but there was no way that was true.  I rode a big draft horse at a run through a field and knew that the horse didn't belong to me and that I would probably get in trouble.  Then I was back at her house and she still looked at me with sad eyes yet didn't say anything.  I was confused about why I would come to visit when there was no communication.

Are you doing what is right?  No, I didn't ask if you feel good about what you are doing.. are you doing what is right?  There are a lot who think they are doing right because they don't feel guilty about something, but guilt is not a factor.. only what the Bible has to say is.  We can be walking a way that is totally wrong but at the same time be clueless and hard-hearted towards things that we don't want to change but know that we should.  Don't listen to your own intellect, listen to God.  Don't continue in your ways because you don't feel guilty, seek God for truth.  Obeying is better than sacrifice.

Proverbs 14:12-14
12 There is a way which looks right to a man, but its end is the way of death.
13 Even while laughing the heart may be in pain, and the end of joy may be sorrow.
14 The man who has gone back into sin will get the fruit of his ways, and a good man will get the fruit of what he does.

Corinthians 10:12-13 So watch yourself! The person who thinks he can stand against sin had better watch that he does not fall into sin. 13 You have never been tempted to sin in any different way than other people. God is faithful. He will not allow you to be tempted more than you can take. But when you are tempted, He will make a way for you to keep from falling into sin.

The thing that God is faithful to do is to hold back any temptation that is more than you can bear. He knows your strengths and your weaknesses. He knows your exact threshold for temptation, and will never, ever allow the enemy to throw more your way than you can bear.

With every temptation, God will provide a way out. He's provided an escape route for every conceivable temptation you could ever possibly experience. Have you ever been tempted to do something and right at that time, the phone rang, or there was some other interruption that kept you from doing the very thing you were tempted to do? Other times, the way of escape may simply be walking away from the situation.
The most encouraging thing is that God is for you! He wants you to walk in victory over sin and temptation, and he is there, ready and willing to assist you. Take advantage of his assistance and walk in a new level of victory today!
Lord, I thank you today for your way out.  When I knew I couldn't make the choice, you made it for me.  Thank you for those circumstances beyond my control.  Thank you for your promise.. thank you for your love.. and most of all, thank you for your faithfulness.  Amen~

Rainy Cool Sunday

Today is a day that calls for hot tea.  As the season changes I am thinking about how life changes. The summers, winters, falls and springs of our lives.

 Ecclesiastes 3.1-8

There is a special time for everything. There is a time for everything that happens under heaven. There is a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pick what is planted. There is a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up. There is a time to cry, and a time to laugh; a time to have sorrow, and a time to dance. There is a time to throw stones, and a time to gather stones; a time to kiss, and a time to turn from kissing. There is a time to try to find, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to throw away. There is a time to tear apart, and a time to sew together; a time to be quiet, and a time to speak. There is a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

There is a time for everything. And whatever you are doing right now that is the time for that. So be present in that moment. Don't be in a different time. Don't be ruminating on the past or worrying about the future. Don't live in guilt, regret or shame. Don't live with worry, fear and apprehension. Live into the moment. The time is right now.

There is a time to drink a cup of coffee with a friend or loved one. When it's that time I should savor the moment and not be picking up my iPhone to check my email.

There is a time for everything.

And when it's that time be there and nowhere else.

For Such a Time as This

It takes you by surprise. You get a phone call. Or maybe someone calls round to your house unannounced. You can tell by the tone of voice that this is something different. “Have you got a few moments. Can I talk to you about something?” You say “Yes, of course. Why don’t we sit down?” Your heart misses a beat because you feel the intensity of the moment. And within a few seconds a new reality unfolds. Something deep down in your stomach starts to tell you: “This conversation is going to shape the rest of my life. This news affects me in a different way to the way it affects anyone else.”

Stop denying, stop ignoring, stop making excuses, stop running away. Realize this needs more than your own strength. Resolve that you will face up to responsibility. Recognize that what you must do must include disclosing your true identity.

Will you listen? Will you do what Esther did, realize the reality of your situation, seek all the help you need, plan carefully, fast, and put yourself in the hands of God? Has God put you right here, right now, for just such a time as this?

Wait on the Lord

Proverbs 8:34  Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

Isaiah 64:4  Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him.

Hebrews 9:28  so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.

Are you trying waiting on the Lord for something? While you are waiting praise Him.. worship Him.  Keep your focus on Him not yourself.  His timing is perfect.

Build it, They will come

We drove out to the track of land where the future church and arena will be today.  As I stared across the plowed field with orange-flagged stakes I tried to imagine the countryside filled with horse trailers and trucks and cars.. and families driving up and down the long driveway from the road to the church.  Someday is coming soon.  I feel it in my spirit. As in the movie Field of Dreams, I do believe if we build it, they will come.  Even now, I feel that God is wooing people to join up and become a part of what is going on.

What is Fellowship?

Psalm 55:13-15

New International Version (NIV)
13 But it is you, a man like myself,
    my companion, my close friend,
14 with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship
    at the house of God,
as we walked about
    among the worshipers.

Isn't this verse beautiful?  My companion, my close friend.... with whom I once enjoyed sweet fellowship at the house of God... as we walked about among worshipers.  Beautiful!

It is so important to be in fellowship with your church friends.. to love on them, care for them, to be there when they need someone etc.. but how can we do that if we don't know them?  We need to make it a priority to get to know people.  Find out what they are about, what they love, what they dislike and what they need... and help them fulfill those longings.

Do you fellowship with your church family or do you leave immediately after worship or services and never speak a word but "hello" to anyone?  Do you sit quietly and not speak a word during discussions?  Do you sit down right after arriving at church instead of mingling?   Stay for a while... linger and get to know people.  I promise you will be blessed that you did!

Down Time

I am thankful this morning for downtime.  Today I will go and pick up my daughter from the airport.. shes' been gone to Sri-Lanka for three weeks.

I took off work today...  So, this morning I've enjoyed computer time, garden time and a bit of cleaning time.  Having the house to myself... quiet... with nothing pressing to do ~ precious!

So much has happened in my life in the last six months.  Letting go of things, taking on new things... they have all been huge learning experiences.  They don't come without pain, but I can honestly say happiness on the flip side has been happier.

The future is looking bright.. and I wonder where God is taking us next.  There already seems to be some exciting things right on the horizon.  I feel a stirring in my heart and soul.  He is nudging me gently to do his will and to trust.  And, I do..

Saturday, May 19, 2012

At the end of the day what is most important to you?  Is it what kind of car you drive, shoes you wear or how beautiful your home is?  Or is it your friends and your loved ones and your relationships?  Don't let life get in the way of the things that should be most important in your life.  Life has a way of ticking on... there are more important things than what people do all day; jobs, stay-at-home  mom's... yes, very important, but in the scheme of things not so much.  The Creator of the earth, Jesus, calls out to you to choose Him.  Choose life.  Choose truth.  Choose to live each moment of your life with deliberate purpose.  Let nothing, NOTHING come between you and your given purpose on this earth.  Don't look to the left or the right, but take the path that he gives you and go forward with your head held high.  You are a child of the King.

Seasons of Hope

He has made everything beautiful in it's time. (Ecc 3:11)  Everything.  God allows us to go through seasons that we don't understand sometimes; winters that chill us and make us think we will never be warm again, summers that melt us so that we are poured out like a drink offering, springs that grow us and refresh us and autumns that let us rest before the long winter.  I have heard the old saying "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger"... but I believe that God allows us to go through trials time and time again until we get it right.  Yes, it makes us stronger.. yes, it makes us think about what we will do next time, yes it makes us resolve to do what is right... and yes, everything is made beautiful in its time.

Ecc 14   I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it.

It gives me great peace to know there is a time and season for everything in my life.  This time last year I had a friend loose her daughter to a car wreck.  Again in this season of remembering last May we gather around the family again to let them know we love them and are praying for them... and we do.. so much.  Yet, God is not lost in the middle of all of this.  He knows that we all will go through hard things in life...and we are all just seeking to be normal... and at the foot of His throne and during all the seasons of our lives He is there for us....and He loves us.. Oh, how He loves us!

Ecclesiastes 3-  There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
What do workers gain from their toil? 10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. 11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. 12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. 13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God. 14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

New Every Morning

Ah Lord, your mercies are new each morning!

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed,
    for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

When did I cross over the line of not just adulthood, but "older" adulthood?  It has happened so subtly that I didn't catch it at first. I sat next to a young, beautiful girl the last several days at a seminar away from my home town.  She was easy to talk to and we chatted about common interests, but then later when I asked her what she was doing for dinner that night after the meeting she said that she had family in the area and she thought they were coming for her to take her out.  The next day, however, she told me that her and another one of the ladies (young girls) in the room had gone to the mall together and out to eat as well.  I couldn't help but be somewhat hurt being as I ended up going out by myself.  I don't mean upset in that I wasn't included, in the fact that I felt irrelevant.  as in, I'm too "old."  She didn't say that, but I'm sure that's what she thought although not to my ill.. just a fact of life.  I went back to my hotel room the night before last and took a good look at myself in the mirror.  Today,  I heard her telling someone that she had graduated from high school in 2008 and I was taken back.  She was a baby.  I have one child older and one child her age exactly, so yes, I could be her mother... more than twice her age! I had thought her to be maybe 8 years or so older than she actually was... and I didn't feel so bad after all.   Because I realized, I wasn't irrelevant, I was just uncool... *giggle*

Cupecake Lessons

" And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. " Ephesians 5:2

What I love most about cupcakes is baking them and decorating them. I have several cupcake recipe books with all kinds of variations and decorating ideas. When it boils down to it though, it's not how cute and appealing they are entirely but what people think of them when they bite down into those cupcakes.

It's the appearance, flavor, and all the qualities of a cupcake combined that makes it good. There's a similarity between what makes a good cupcake and what makes our lives good as Christians.
  • Appearance
The first thing I think we all notice about cupcakes before we eat them is their appearance. When I bake cupcakes, my kids have to look over all of them before they pick one. They usually take their time before they get the one they want and go on their way. They want the biggest, prettiest, and the one with the most icing on top.

What do you look like as a Christian? Got your icing on just right? Are you a little lopsided? Are you showing Christ's love to others? Are you pleasing to be around? Are you bearing that fruit that we are to show in our Christian lives?

  • Smell
The next thing I think we can tell about cupcakes when we pick them up is the smell. Do they have a particular scent? Do they have a pleasing aroma or even a burnt scent to them?

What about you? Are you repugnant to others? Are you living your Christian life with that "sweet smelling savour"?

  • Sweetness
As you bite into a cupcake one of the first things you are going to notice is the sweetness. None of us normally like our cupcakes not to be sweet. It's what is expected of them. If we wanted something that wasn't sweet, we'd choose some type of muffin.

As Christians, we are expected to be sweet too. Sweetness shouldn't be something we are lacking in. We are to show Christ's love to the world and we do that by how we act and what we say. Words and actions that are not sweet don't further the cause of Christ.

  • Flavor
Next as we bite into the cupcake, one thing we notice is the flavor. What does it taste like? Do you recognize any spices, flavors, or special ingredients? Do all the ingredients combine to make it taste good?

As Christians we are reminded to keep our flavor as well. Matthew 5:13 says, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."

If we don't live our lives like Christians, how can the world ever tell the difference between us and those that don't know Christ? They won't be able to recognize our flavor.

  • Moistness
While eating our cupcake, another thing that will stick out is how moist it is. There's nothing I like worse than a dry cupcake. Moisture is a vital part of how a cupcake tastes.

As Christians, when we aren't allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us, we turn out pretty dry too. We don't accomplish anything for Christ and don't bear that fruit that we are told to bear.

  • Ease of Eating
Cupcakes are made to be easy to handle. It's the biggest difference between a cupcake and a regular cake. You can pick the cupcake up in your hand and eat it. No forks necessary. I love cupcakes that have all those pretty decorations and I like making them that way, but sometimes it does hinder the ability to dive in and eat that cupcake.

What about you? As a Christian, are you easy to swallow? How do your actions come across? Are you easy to be around or can you only be handled in small doses? Does your attitude get in the way?

  • Icing
I know there are cupcakes out there that people don't ice and sometimes my husband will steal cupcakes off the cooling rack before I can get mine iced, but really it's not a cupcake to me if it doesn't have some icing on top. You can't have too little or too much icing on a cupcake. Also the icing has to be the right flavor to enhance the cake part of the cupcake.

It is like that in our lives too. We need to have balance and some self-control. Our bodies are a temple and we have to be very careful what we allow into our lives. What are you topping your life with? Are the things you allow in embellishing you as a Christian?

  • Special Additions
Don't you love those cupcakes that have that extra added surprise to them? Maybe it's a filled cupcake, or has something special inside such as nuts or a flavor you are not expecting. It's that extra special touch.

How about you? Does your life have a few sprinkles or something special on top? Got any surprise fillings that you are hiding? Are you using your talents and gifts that God has blessed you with?

The outcome of a cupcake all depends on it's preparation. It's the same with womanhood and even motherhood. You have to prepare yourself. What kind of batter are you going to be filled with? What kind of daughter, mother, or friend are you going to turn out to be?

For us as Christian women, there's got to be some key ingredients such as Bible study, prayer, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Our batter should be all those things we depend on to help round us out and make us into those sweet Christian women that we are capable of being.

We have to allow our Creator to have control of the batter and of the oven settings or we may find ourselves dry, crumbly, and without any flavor. When we don't surrender to the Lord we can easily end up with the burnt smell of sin seeping through our cupcake liner or even come out half baked. Without yielding to the Lord's control it puts our lives in danger of running over the edges, stuck, and crusted to the pan.

Blessings - Laura Story

We pray for blessings
We pray for peace
Comfort for family, protection while we sleep
We pray for healing, for prosperity
We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering
All the while, You hear each spoken need
Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

We pray for wisdom
Your voice to hear
And we cry in anger when we cannot feel You near
We doubt Your goodness, we doubt Your love
As if every promise from Your Word is not enough
All the while, You hear each desperate plea
And long that we'd have faith to believe

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
What if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
And what if trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise

When friends betray us
When darkness seems to win
We know that pain reminds this heart
That this is not, this is not our home
It's not our home

'Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops
What if Your healing comes through tears
And what if a thousand sleepless nights
Are what it takes to know You’re near
What if my greatest disappointments
Or the aching of this life
Is the revealing of a greater thirst this world can’t satisfy
And what if trials of this life
The rain, the storms, the hardest nights
Are Your mercies in disguise

How Does Your Garden Grow?

(Picture from last year)

The garden now only lacks some pumpkins that I want to get planted in the next week or two.  This last fall at Thanksgiving my mother-in-law brought two of the cutest, big, round and flattish pumpkins for decorations.  They were white with super orange innards. Later I canned the pumpkin meat and saved all the seeds, so I'm hoping that we will get more of these beautiful pumpkins this year.

Now the garden consists of tomatoes, okra, pole beans, bush beans, cucumbers, yellow squash, banana peppers,  potatoes and sweet potatoes.  I love being self sufficient.. and watching things grow..

Someone Like You

The garden has finally been fully planted!  We started 12 days ago with the tomatoes, okra and banana peppers and just last night finally put the squash and cucumbers in and planted all the green beans.  I love that we will have about a full month longer than the usual growing period due to our very short winter and lush, mild spring!  I am hoping and praying for a bumper crop of wonderful fresh veggies to eat fresh, to give away and to can.  The only thing lacking are some potatoes and we should be getting those planted by the middle of this next week.  I am so excited!  Our garden plot held three pigs for about three months.  We have finally butchered them and now we are hoping that the fertilized soil will bring huge, healthy veggies!

Sandy Wisdom

1 Kings 4:29  God gave Solomon very great wisdom and understanding, and knowledge as vast as the sands of the seashore.

James 1:5-6 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. 6 But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind

We can come boldly before God's throne and ask for wisdom...  We need to ask and have faith.  Imagine having wisdom, understanding and knowledge like the sands on the seashore!  Immeasurable!

Oh Lord, You're Beautiful

Grace.  God's wonderful grace.  Is there anything like it?  No.  Not even close.

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I seek,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.

I want to take your word and shine it all around.

But first help me to just, live it Lord.
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown.
For my reward is giving glory to you.

Oh Lord, please light the fire,

That once burned bright and clear.
Replace the lamp of my first love,
That burns with Holy fear.

I want to take your word and shine it all around.

But first help me to just, live it Lord.
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown.
For my reward is giving glory to you.

Oh Lord, you're beautiful,

Your face is all I seek,
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.

I love the words to this Keith Green song.   They are such truth to my heart and soul.

The things that God has been doing in my life since the beginning of this year are astronomical.... with my daily life, with my jobs, with my friendships, with my family... and most of all, in my relationship with Him.

The more I let go, the bigger he becomes. It's really quite funny how that works.  There is strength in submission.  A controlled, bendable, working spirit within.  Listening to his ways not mine....

Thank you Lord, for who you always are despite who I sometimes am.  Thank you for your mercy, grace and love that covers me from day to day.  Please allow me to be a light in someone's darkness today.  Lead my steps and give me words to speak... Amen

Oh Lord, You're Beautiful - by Shane

Restore the fire of my first love.. that burns with holy fear...

Blessings from God

Psalm 24:4-6

4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol
or swear by a false god.  5 They will receive blessing from the LORD
and vindication from God their Savior.
6 Such is the generation of those who seek him,
who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Blessings.  What are they and where do they come from?  Do they come by way of God's grace and mercy toward us?  Is it the things that we have done that brings them on us?

I know there are many times in my life that it seems that my prayers are not even hitting the ceiling and God is totally silent... and then there are times when He seems to abundantly throw open the blessings of the storehouse and "good" things just pour into my life hand over fist.

Is it something that I have done?  Is it my faith, my belief or my determination?

Or is it just simply God being God.  God, who is good all the time... even when I fail Him miserably.

There are times I believe He waits to reward us.  He waits patiently for us to make the right decisions, do the right things, say the right things ... and then pressed down, shaken together... our blessings start running over.

Luke 6: 38  Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.

Lord You're Beautiful

Washing Feet

John 13:14-15  Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.  After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

Have you ever had your feet washed by someone?  Have you?  What a humbling experience it is.  The tears come and you really can't even place why~ there are too many thoughts that come at once... .  You feel so vulnerable.. so undeserving.. yet Jesus washed his disciples feet..

New Pressure Canner and Canned Potatoes

For Christmas  I received a pressure canner.  The first ever for me.  I've always canned using a water bath canner.  I was a bit nervous at first, but after giving it a trial run with nothing in it (according to the directions)... I felt the confidence to can some potatoes~ something I've not been able to can since I didn't have a pressure canner!  Now I'm super ready to can carrots, beans, tomatoes and more!  We have already ate quite a bit of what I have canned this summer.  My next goal is to get some shelves put up in the garage where I can put all my canned goodies for storage.

The potatoes turned out well although the water was a bit low in some of them.  I have read online that as long as the jars seal that the food will still be good!  I'm excited to try them out!

Time Flies

I was talking to my sister yesterday when I called her for her birthday.  As we talked about how time flies the older we get, we both agreed that that is exactly how life is supposed to be.  We could be possibly sitting in a hospital room, where time can literally drag minute by minute for days, weeks and months.  Time is supposed to fly.  It means we are doing things right and that life is good.

2 Peter 3:8  But you must not forget this one thing, dear friends: A day is like a thousand years to the Lord, and a thousand years is like a day.
