Lymph Nodes

I have been having issues with my lymph nodes for almost a year now.  The past six months more and more so.  The last couple of times that I've had a cold or any medical issues, they have swollen up in big knots and become quite tender.  I've tried talking to several of the nurses that I work with and even a friend, but can't seem to get anyone very interested in listening.  Have you ever noticed those in the medical field seem to be the ones least interested?  It's strange.

My mom had Lupus... so in some ways, I can't help with being concerned that it could be something fairly serious.

Anyway...

Today I'm off to yet another doctor appointment, this makes three in the last six weeks.  I'm ready to get to the bottom of whatever is going on. And, just maybe, it is something very simple that is easily taken care of.

Please keep me in your prayers.

Grace Flows Down

Amazing Grace
How sweet the sound
Amazing Love
Now flowing down
From hands and feet
That were nailed to the tree
As Grace flows down and covers me

Chorus
It covers me
It covers me
It covers me
And covers me

Show me your friends....

Show me your friends and I'll show you your future.

I heard this for the first time today.  It really hit deep home with me.  I have tons of very casual acquaintances, but no close, go-do-something-together, call-if-you-need-to-talk friends...

So, what does it that say about me?

Drop in for Tea

Romans 8:6
New Living Translation (NLT)
6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

Thought we could sit down for some tea together. Have you noticed how many new blends there are for us to try? I love trying new tea flavors. Sometimes I end up liking the flavors and sometimes not so much. Some are too strong, too weak, or just have odd tastes to me. Others I thoroughly enjoy.

Many blends are good for us and today we are going to share in some cups of tea that are good for our us as Christians.

  • Royal-TEA (Galatians 4:7)
This source for this tea is straight from the well of Living Water. When we accept Christ as our Savior, we become part of His royal family so we should be living like we are one of His children.

  • Personali-TEA (John 13:35)
As Christians, we represent the person of Christ, so He should be part of our persona.

  • Hones-TEA (Ephesians 4:25)
In today's world, a cup of honesty sure is refreshing. As a Christian, honesty is something we should be filled with.

  • Accountabili-TEA (Romans 14:12)
We all have to drink this one. We are all responsible for how we live this life on earth and what we do or don't do for Christ.

  • Adversi-TEA (2 Corinthians 12:9,10)
Watch out! It's hot and may be a hard one to swallow, but sometimes the Lord knows we need a good strong drink of it. What I love is that this blend of tea always comes served with grace. Sufficient grace. Our cup's never filled with more than we can drink at one time.

  • Generosi-TEA (Luke 6:38)
Notice how a cup of this will keep refilling itself? When we give, the Lord blesses us all the more.

  • Availabili-TEA (Isaiah 6:8)
We all should be willing and ready to drink this blend.

  • Laughabili-TEA (Proverbs 17:22)
Be sure to get a full cup. This blend of tea has medicinal purposes and I sure feel good when I drink this one. May I have a refill, please?

  • Uni-TEA (Psalm 133:1)
When you are drinking this blend, it causes a sweet spirit which can benefit those around you.

  • Humili-TEA (Acts 20:19)
Before we can pick up this cup, sometimes we have to swallow a little of our own pride first. As a Christian, humility should be part of our character.

  • Hospitali-TEA (1 Peter 4:9)
This blend is for sharing. Be sure to serve it up to others.
Conclusion
I hope I'm drinking in all the things I need to in order to live my Christian life to the fullest. It will all add up to my Spirituali-TEA.

When we are walking in the spirit instead of the flesh, we begin reflecting Christ. The whole chapter of Romans 8 is talking about living in the spirit. In verse 13 of that chapter, it is talking about mortifying the deeds of the body and keeping sin under control. We need to work on getting the way we live under control of the spirit instead of living in the flesh.

Romans 8:13-14
New Living Translation (NLT)
13 For if you live by its dictates, you will die. But if through the power of the Spirit you put to death the deeds of your sinful nature,[a] you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children[b] of God.

How we live reflects Who we serve and when we begin sipping on those "teas" in our life and concentrating on those areas, we begin reflecting Christ more. Sin and the flesh will have a hard time sneaking in when we are living like Christ intended for us to live.

I don't know about you, but when I sit down and have a cup of tea (or coffee) in the morning, it puts me in the right mindset for the day. These "teas" will help put us in the right frame of mind too. Reflecting on these areas of our lives will give us a boost in our spiritually.

Romans 8:5-6
New Living Translation (NLT)
5 Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.

So, how's your tea?

Feathers in Hair ~ All the Rage

Is it a do or not?  Here in small-town Oklahoma these are all the rage.  I've even seen them in older women's hair.  Supposedly you can wash and wear with them in....  Not something that I would do, but if  I were 19 and all my friends were doing it I might...  Who would have thought?

It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing ~ Shania Twain

Sweet Shania, bless her heart.  She takes a fall at the CMT Music Wards Ceremony and the world gets to watch it over and over and over and over... the next day on their television sets.

My husband fell in the backyard a couple of days ago because he was holding the dog and walking and stepped into a hole.  Believe me, that was much more entertaining than seeing a beautiful woman loosing grace on national television.  The local news stations should come to our house and have him react it so that they can show it to the world! *tongue in cheek*

Why is it that the media loves to see famous people fail?  I remember several years back when former President Bush had an upset stomach and was sick at a major meeting where it was caught on camera to be shown all the next day.....

Something within people loves to see others fail sometimes.  It's the one-upmanship.  It makes me better than you.

No, it makes us HUMAN.

Seeing sweet Shania fall breaks my heart.  How embarassing that had to be.  But, you know what?  She's just human.  She makes mistakes.  She stumbles and falls (physically or in life) and so do we.

Next time you see someone that has "fallen" help them up.  Dust them off... Don't walk away pointing and laughing.... because sooner or later that will probably be you...

Psalm 113:7 He lifts the poor from the dust and the needy from the garbage dump.

Psalm 10:17 Lord, you know the hopes of the helpless.Surely you will hear their cries and comfort them.

Mark 12:33 And I know it is important to love him with all my heart and all my understanding and all my strength, and to love my neighbor as myself. This is more important than to offer all of the burnt offerings and sacrifices required in the law.”

Jesus is my Portion ~ A Constant Friend is He

Why should I feel discouraged,
Why should the shadows come,
Why should my heart feel lonely
And long for Heav'n and home,
When Jesus is my portion?
A constant Friend is He:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches over me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Refrain:
I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches (I know he watches)
(I know he watches me)

I sing because I'm happy,
I sing because I'm free,
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me (He watches me)
His eye is on the sparrow
And I know he watches me (He watches me)
He watches me (I know he watches me)

Verse 2:
"Let not your heart be troubled,"
His tender word I hear,
And resting on His goodness,
I lose my doubts and fears;
Though by the path He leadeth
But one step I may see:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He watches me.

Verse 3:
Whenever I am tempted,
Whenever clouds arise,
When songs give place to sighing,
When hope within me dies,
I draw the closer to Him,
From care He sets me free:
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He cares for me;
His eye is on the sparrow,
And I know He cares for me.

    Serving while Suffering

    Job 30:26-28

    26 Yet when I hoped for good, evil came;
when I looked for light, then came darkness.
    27 The churning inside me never stops;
       days of suffering confront me.
    28 I go about blackened, but not by the sun;
I stand up in the assembly and cry for help.

But, I'm a mother who has lost a child...

    Serve Him~

But, I'm miserable in my job..

    Serve Him~

But, my husband isn't nice to me...

    Serve Him~

But, my friends don't like me...

    Serve Him~

    But, people talk about me...

    Serve Him~

    But, I'm so sick...

    Serve Him~

    But, I'm a single parent...

    Serve Him~

But my parents died in a car wreck...

    Serve Him~

But, I'm afraid to leave the house...

    Serve Him~

Have you ever noticed that when you are suffering, if you serve someone else that your pain lessens?  It's true.

Yes, of course we should take care of ourselves, or things in our lives that need taken care of.  But when we are suffering most we should reach out to others.  God has designed it so that the salve that you apply to their lives, will be applied to yours also...

How are you serving Him today?

Galatians 5:13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh ; rather, serve one another humbly in love.
