"Enter to worship and depart to serve" Have you heard this quote?
Think about it. We should not attend church and consider that our service or duty for our Christianship, no, it is the place where we go in several times a week to worship our Lord Jesus and to glean from His World. It's when we depart, when we leave the church building, that we are actually serving. Of course we can serve each other in church, but that's not the topic of this issue.
When we depart we are serving. That is when we are to share the love of Jesus with others. There are several ways to do this; giving someone a ride on a hot day, feeding the hungry, lending a listening ear to someone who's heart is hurting etc... If we have a hunger to reach the lost and love people with all of our hearts, then serving should come to us as easy as breathing.
The next time you enter a service, go to worship. Worship with all that you are. Listen to the Word spoken and apply it to your life. Don't look around and wish that someone you know were there so that they could hear it, but apply it to yourself. And, when you walk out the doors determine in your heart that you are going to do your duty to serve a lost world.
Matthew 20:28 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
1 Corinthians 12:5 There are different kinds of service, but we serve the same Lord.
Galatians 5:13 For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love.
